In December 2025, the project “Reducing Invasive Blue Crab Impact on European Eel in Karavasta Lagoon, Albania” officially started with the implementation of its first key activities.
A coordination meeting was held at the premises of the Protected Areas Administration (ADZM, Fier) with representatives of the Karavasta Lagoon management, where the project objectives, implementation steps, and institutional cooperation framework were presented.
In addition, a meeting with the Divjakë Fisheries Management Organization was organized to ensure the active involvement of local fishermen and to establish a communication network for regular information exchange on the status of the invasive blue crab and the European eel in the lagoon.
Finally, a baseline survey with local fishermen was conducted to collect initial data on the presence, distribution, and impacts of the blue crab. The collected information will support future monitoring and the evaluation of mitigation measures throughout the project.

Dhjetor 2025 – Aktivitete të Realizuara (1.1.1; 1.1.2; 1.1.3)
Gjatë muajit Dhjetor 2025, projekti “Reducing Invasive Blue Crab Impact on European Eel in Karavasta Lagoon, Albania” nisi zyrtarisht me realizimin e aktiviteteve të para kryesore.
U zhvillua një takim koordinues në ambientet e Administratës së Zonave të Mbrojtura (ADZM, Fier), me drejtues të staf të menaxhimit të Lagunës së Karavastasë, ku u prezantuan objektivat e projektit, hapat e zbatimit dhe kuadri i bashkëpunimit institucional.
Gjithashtu, u organizua një takim me Organizatën e Menaxhimit të Peshkimit Divjakë, me qëllim përfshirjen aktive të peshkatarëve dhe krijimin e një rrjeti komunikimi për shkëmbimin e vazhdueshëm të informacionit mbi statusin e gaforres blu invazive dhe ngjalës evropiane në lagunë.
Në përfundim, u realizua një pyetësor bazë me peshkatarët lokalë për mbledhjen e të dhënave fillestare mbi praninë, shpërndarjen dhe ndikimin e gaforres blu, të cilat do të shërbejnë për monitorimin dhe vlerësimin e masave që do të zbatohen gjatë fazave të mëvonshme të projektit.
