In December 2023, the team of the project “Population status assessment of crayfish (Astacus astacus and Austropotamobius torrentium)” carried out the next expedition to survey the species in the lakes, Ohrid and Great Prespa, and the two rivers of the Shebenik-Jabllanice National Park, specifically in the Qarrishta and Rrapuni areas. The monitoring was conducted using the same procedures as in the previous two expeditions. Additionally, during this expedition, parallel monitoring and measurement of physico-chemical seasonal parameters, habitat assessment, and questionnaire completion were carried out.
Due to weather conditions in December, a small number of individuals were observed for only one species under study in the lakes of Ohrid and Great Prespa. Additionally, questionnaires were continued with random encounters of residents or fishermen at the monitoring stations to gather further information.
